Sheraton Atlanta announces the appointment of ANDRE
WALKER as National Account Manager of the Washington,
D.C. market. He will manage all D.C.-area associations and
government organizations, positioning Atlanta and the Sheraton
Atlanta brand among his clients. Walker’s previous experience
includes the Hyatt Baltimore, the New Orleans Convention and
Visitors Bureau and pharmaceutical markets in New York, Pennsylvania,
New Jersey and Maryland. His work with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts
earned him recognition among the Sales Team of the Year in
2000, as well as consecutive Revenue Production awards.     |
JIM
BOLINGER
has been selected as the new Director of Rooms Operations
for the Pan Pacific San Francisco. He most recently served
as Assistant General Manager of the Lafayette Park Hotel &
Spa. In addition, he has held several management positions
in other Bay Area hotels, including Director of Operations
at the Westin San Francisco Airport, nine years as Executive
Assistant Manager at Campton Place and six at the Westin Saint
Francis. A resident of San Francisco, Jim began his career
at The Fairmont and graduated from Purdue University. He is
a third generation hospitality veteran, he grew up in Springfield,
IL where he was raised at his family’s Leland Hotel.    |
DANIEL
DAUGHTRY
joins Abid Butt's team at Hawaii's Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu's
North Shore as the Director of Conference and Food & Beverage
Services. Most recently, Daughtry was F&B director for
the Pacific Islands Club Resort on Saipan in the Northern
Marianas Islands. Previous to this, he served as assistant
then Acting Director of Food & Beverage for the Fairmont
Hamilton Princess, Bermuda. Prior to this he was Restaurant
Manager for the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Kona, and during
the mid 1990s held positions of increasing responsibility
within the food & beverage department of the Hyatt Regency
Maui, Hawaii. A graduate of Washington State University, he
holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Hotel & Restaurant
Administration and attended the Professional Development Program
at Cornell University.

MARK
SIMMONS
is joining his long-standing friend and Industry colleague,
Joe Cauchi at Delivering Asia in Hong Kong as Vice President
– Business Development. Simmons has over 16 years of
senior hospitality industry experience and began his career
with Radisson Hotels in Australia in 1987. He moved to Asia
in 1991 and joined Century International Hotels holding senior
property based Sales and Marketing roles as well as pre-opening
assignments in Indonesia and Vietnam. At the end of 1997,
he joined the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai as Director of
Sales and Marketing. In 1999 he re-joined Century International
Hotels as Vice-President Marketing & Sales based in Hong
Kong and in 2001 was responsible for the Sales & Marketing
integration of the Century Group into Accor Hotels. He was
subsequently appointed Director of Sales – Asia for
Accor in October, 2001. His last position was Hotel Manager
at The Landmark Bangkok. Delivering Asia is a leading hospitality
Sales & Marketing company. Current clients include Six
Senses Hotels & Resorts, Sanctuary Resorts, Orient-Express
Trains & Cruises, Hotel Littre’ Paris, Uma Ubud,
Bali and Bali Pavilions.  |
RIK
BLYTH
has been appointed Managing Director of Caneel Bay, succeeding
Brian Young who is relocating to Dallas to assume his new
role as Vice President of Operations at Rosewood Hotels &
Resorts. Rik began his career with Hyatt Hotels in Seattle
in 1980, holding management positions in California, Minneapolis
and Chicago. In 1995 he moved to St. Thomas in the US Virgin
Islands to become the General Manager of Sugar Bay Resort.
During his 11 year tenure in the islands, Rik has held General
Manager positions in the Virgin Islands and in Puerto Rico
and formed his own successful hospitality consulting company.
Active in community and industry organizations, he is currently
a board member of the Saint Thomas-Saint John Chamber of Commerce,
where he chairs the Tourism Committee and the U.S. Virgin
Islands Hotel and Tourism Association.   |
STEPHEN
PETERS
has returned to the Pan Pacific Vancouver as Hotel Manager,
overseeing the day-to-day operation and marketing strategies.
From 1988 to 1998 Peters led the Sales and Marketing activities
for the hotel before becoming Executive Assistant Manager
from 1996 to 1998. “It’s a pleasure to welcome
Stephen back,” said Steve Halliday, Senior Vice President,
PPHR America Inc. and General Manager of Pan Pacific Vancouver.
“He is very well known to our hotel, Pan Pacific Hotels
and Resorts, and our industry for his brilliant sales and
marketing talents, outstanding operational leadership and

has been appointed Director of Sales for the Pan Pacific Vancouver.
Kevin is a hospitality veteran of 18 years, who joins Pan
Pacific Vancouver following 11 years with Fairmont Hotels
and Resorts, holding a variety of progressive sales and marketing
positions in both Vancouver and Victoria.

MICHAEL
DEITEMEYER,
formerly the Omni Hotels Chief Operating Officer, has been
promoted to President. This promotion is in keeping with the
company's strategic growth initiatives and in recognition
of his significant contributions to the company's operations,
marketing, financial and technology areas. In addition to
his current responsibilities, in his new position Deitemeyer
will also be charged with the product development, human resources
and development areas. Jim Caldwell, who formerly held the
president's title, will continue as Chief Executive Officer.
Deitemeyer is a 13 year veteran of Omni Hotels and its parent
company, TRT Holdings. He joined the Shoreline Operating Company,
the former hotel operating arm of TRT, in 1992 as controller
and moved up in the ranks to become chief operating officer
of Omni Hotels in 1999. Under his tenure, the company experienced
record growth and received top ranking guest satisfaction
ratings from numerous organizations.  |

The
former Adam’s Mark Hotel will become the HILTON
INDIANAPOLIS by mid-August and the 332-room hotel
is currently undergoing an aggressive, top-to-bottom $6.5
million refurbishment which is expected to be completed by
the end of this year. Hospitality veteran and recipient of
the Indiana Hotel and Lodging Association 2003 General Manager
of the Year award William (Bill) Stanton is Vice President/Managing
Director of the property which is now operated by Pyramid
Hotel Group., a division of Pyramid Advisors LLC, under a
franchise license agreement with Hilton Hotels Corporation.   |
Look-out
NYC here comes a Hard Rock. The Paramount Hotel on 46th between
Broadway and 8th Avenue, just off Times Square, "will undergo
a multi-million dollar refurbishment at the beginning of 2005
and will be re-branded the HARD ROCK HOTEL NEW YORK.
This is a 50:50 joint venture between Hard Rock Cafe International
and Sol Meliá Hotels and Resorts.  |

Harrah's
Entertainment in Las Vegas began an addition of 60,000 square
feet of exhibition space to the RIO PAVILION CONVENTION
CENTER. When this $39 million project wraps up by
the end of the year, the Rio will have 160,000 square feet
of exhibit space. The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino has
2,543 guest rooms.    |
The
CONRAD MIAMI recently opened its doors. The
chic and much anticipated luxury hotel is located in the heart
of Miami’s financial district. Each of the 203 guest
rooms and 116 suites is finely appointed with contemporary
furniture, two phone lines, 27-inch flat-screen TV and DVD
player and a separate bathtub and shower plus a bath service
menu in conjunction with Spa Conrad. The hotel also offers
over 15,000 square feet of meeting space and complimentary
Hi-Fi and Wi-Fi throughout the building.  |

industry icon for the last 40 years and faculty member in
the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management, Pamplin
College of Business at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and
