has been appointed President & CEO of Lodging Interactive,
a leading provider of Internet Marketing Services to the travel
and lodging industries. In this role Mr. Vallauri will be
responsible for all marketing, sales, business development,
technology, operations and financial matters of the company.
With over twenty years of travel sales, marketing and technology
experience, Vallauri has held senior management positions
with companies such as Meridien Hotels, Utell International,
Cendant’s WizCom International, AMR Information Systems
(American Airlines) and most recently served as Vice President
of E-Commerce & CRM for Prime Hospitality Corp. In addition,
Vallauri has also been an Internet entrepreneur having founded
several dotcom companies, notably FreeShippping.com and MyVendi.com,
which he ultimately sold to private investors.  |
MICHAEL
O. SMITH
has been appointed General Manager for Hyatt Regency New Orleans
and will oversee operations at the 1,184-room hotel. For the
last three years he served as General Manager of the Hyatt
Regency Washington on Capitol Hill and during his 26-year
career with Hyatt was Hotel Manager at Grand Hyatt Washington,
and General Manager at Harborside Hyatt in Boston and Hyatt
Regency Crystal City at Ronald Reagan National Airport. His
career also includes a previous tenure at Hyatt Regency New
Orleans as Regional Director of Food and Beverage. Smith was
actively involved in the District of Columbia community serving
as a member of the Hotel Association, Washington Convention
& Tourism Corporation, the Downtown Business Improvement
District, the District of Columbia Taxi Commission, the Marriott
Hospitality High School and many other worthwhile causes.
A native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Smith earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Business Administration from Winston-Salem
State University in North Carolina.   |
DANIEL
BERGMANN
is the new General Manager of the 200-room Muse Hotel, a luxury
property located in mid-town Manhatten. Bergmann, a 24-year
veteran in the hospitality field most recently functioned
as General Manager at the Dylan Hotel. With a strong W Hotels
background including Times Square, Court and Tuscany, he opened
the 509-room W in 2001 and left his mark at the Wyndham Bel
Age in West Hollywood where under his leadership the hotel
was awarded the Wyndham Hotel of the Year for RevPar, profit
and rate improvements. Appealing to both business and leisure
travelers, "The Muse has demonstrated its stellar reputation
receiving the AAA Four Diamond rating for the third year in
a row,” says Bergmann. “I look forward to continuing
this excellence creating tailored guest programs to awaken
the five senses while exceeding expectations for an inspiring
guest experience.”    |
LORNE
M. BURNS
has been named General Manager of the newly renovated 179-room
Sheraton Bellevue Hotel which is located just outside of Seattle,
Washington. Burns most recently served as the General Manager
of the Sheraton Guildford Hotel in Surrey, British Columbia,
from 2002 to 2004 and held the same position at the Ramada
Vancouver Centre in British Columbia and the Sandman Hotel
in Lethbridge, Alberta. Burns, a native of Penticton, British
Columbia, has served as president of the Lethbridge Hotel
Association and was a member of the Vancouver Hotel Association.  |

DAYS INN DFW AIRPORT NORTH, Irving, Texas,
has joined the Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC) portfolio
of managed properties. The award-winning, five-Sunburst Days
Inn, and a multi-year Chairman’s Award Winner for Quality
property features 131 guest rooms and suites, a full-service
restaurant, an Olympic-size outdoor lap pool, fitness area,
24-hour shuttle service to and from DFW Airport, and a full,
hot complimentary breakfast buffet. The property, which is
located at the north entrance to Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport, has meeting space for groups up to 35.  |

PAULA
FENNER,
Director of Catering at the Adolphus, has been named "Caterer
of the Year" by the National Association of Catering
Executives (NACE). This award, considered the top honor for
caterers in the industry, recognizes those individuals who
contribute and exemplify the goals and values of NACE. A member
of the NACE since 1985, she is the only hotelier in Dallas
to hold the highly prized Certified Professional Catering
Executive (CPCE) designation. A native Texan, Ms. Fenner joined
The Adolphus as Director of Catering in 2003 and oversees
a staff of seven catering and conference services professionals.
She is treasurer of the local International Special Events
Society (ISES) chapter, a Big Sister in the local Big Brothers
Big Sisters program and was recently elected national secretary
treasurer of NACE.   |

RENOVATIONS |
The
GRAND TRAVERSE RESORT & SPA has completed
phase two of a three phases $10 million renovation. With phases
one and two completed all (238) of the guest rooms in the
Hotel section have been refurbished and wireless high speed
Internet is now available in the guest rooms. Infrastructure
upgrades included re-paving cart paths on The Bear golf course
and the Clubhouse parking lot, installation of all new Cybex
Eagle strength training equipment in the health club, renovation
of Tower suites, new golf course maintenance equipment, a
new golf cart fleet, several new service vehicles, upgrades
to the resort's water system, and various roofing and HVAC
improvements. Approximately $5 million is planned to be spent
in phase three between November 2004 and June 2005 renovating
all 186 guest rooms in the Tower as well as the Trillium Restaurant
and Lounge on floors sixteen and seventeen. Additional upgrades
include renovating the Hotel/Tower lobby and upgrades for
the resort's information technology and telecommunications
systems.  |
