 MARK
VAUGHAN
has been named the new Director of Sales & Marketing at
the Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa. Formerly
Marketing Director of Sales and Marketing for Marriott International,
SE Region in Atlanta, GA, Vaughan will oversee the entire
sales and marketing operation for the newly renovated resort
which recently received Meetings & Conventions, 2004 Gold
Key Award for the 25th year. A 20-year veteran of Marriott
International, he has been the recipient of numerous industry
awards throughout his career and holds a Bachelor Degree in
Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University in
Richmond, Kentucky.

 BRIDGET
BILINSKI
has been named the first female General Manager of the Anaheim
Marriott in California and Area General Manager for North
Orange County. "I am thrilled to be back in the day-to-day
operations of a hotel. It's the heart of our business,"
said the San Diego native. "I am equally excited to be
a role model for women in business. It's my greatest responsibility."
Bilinski began her career with Marriott in 1979 at the Los
Angeles Airport Marriott. Later, under the Courtyard by Marriott
brand, she opened three hotels while maintaining her post
as General Manager of the Phoenix Metrocenter Courtyard. During
this time, she was one of the first female Area Managers in
the country. In 1994, Bilinski served as General Manager of
the Scottsdale Marriott Suites. In 1996, Bilinski was awarded
Marriott's Regional Manager Leadership Award for overseeing
45 Courtyard by Marriott hotels in four states as Regional
Manager. Two years later at corporate headquarters in Washington,
District of Columbia, Bilinski was named the first female
Vice President of Franchising and opened over 100 Courtyard
by Marriott hotels in the United States and Canada. Ms. Bilinski
received her B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management from
the Collins School of Hospitality Management at California
Polytechnic University in Pomona, where she was recently presented
with the Distinguished Alumni Award. |
 The
Sheraton Cleveland Airport announced that PAUL GJERPEN
has been appointed the new General Manager. Gjerpen most recently
served as the General Manager of the Doubletree Hotel in Novi,
Michigan. He began his career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation
in 1976 in Dearborn, Michigan and held a number of positions
in the areas of housekeeping and rooms operations. Later in
his career, he opened eleven hotels while he was the Director
of Rooms Operations at the Corporate Office of Hyatt Hotels.
In 1987 through 1992, Gjerpen served as General Manager of
the Hyatt Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1992, he served
as General Manager for the Harrison Conference Center in Glen
Cove, Long Island, New York. |

 A
Miami's legend will now be known as the DORAL GOLF
RESORT & SPA, A MARRIOTT RESORT. CNL Hotels &
Resorts Inc, the new owners and the nation's second largest
hotel real estate investment trust, plan to invest over $40
million in the 692 room hotel over the next three years. Frank
Garahan, a 25-year Marriott veteran and most recently General
Manager of Marriott's Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in
Rancho Mirage, California, has been appointed General Manager
of the resort. |

NAMES |
 The
Antlers Hotel sitting at the base of Pikes Peak in Colorado
Springs, recently raised the Hilton flag and will now be known
as the ANTLERS HILTON COLORADO SPRINGS. Formerly
the Adam's Mark, the historic hotel will undergo a $7 to $10
million renovation that will enhance the 292 guest rooms and
suites, 27,000 square feet of meeting space, the public areas
as well as the hotel's two restaurants - The Antler's Grille
and Judge Baldwin's Brewing Company.

 Just
north of Dallas in the upscale Galleria area, the former Wingate
Inn in Addison Texas is undergoing a transformation from a
limited-service property to a new-concept, full-service HOLIDAY
INN ADDISON. Scheduled for completion in October
2004, the 101 room hotel will have a full-service restaurant,
a lounge, free high-speed internet access, and a outdoor pool.
The property has three meeting rooms, totaling 2,675 square
feet and will now offer catering services. These improvements
will enhance the property’s current amenities, which
include a fully-equipped 24-hour Fitness Center; 24-hour Business
Center; in-room safes; microwaves; refrigerators and coffee
makers in all rooms and suites. |

NEW
SPACES |
 The
SANCTUARY AT KIAWAH ISLAND just opened its
doors. Owned and operated by Kiawah Island Golf Resort, The
Sanctuary has been designed to reflect the style of a grand
southern seaside mansion and is located along 10 miles of
pristine beach only 30 minutes from Charleston. The 255-room,
$125 million oceanfront resort features two oceanfront restaurants,
a casual seaside grill, two bars, seven boutique shops, more
than 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a luxurious nature-based
spa, and wireless Internet access all the way onto the beach.

RENOVATIONS |
Colonial
Williamsburg's WILLIAMSBURG LODGE AND CONFERENCE CENTER
in Virginia is undergoing a renovation. When complete, the
facility will feature 130 new guest rooms for a total of 323
rooms and suites. In addition there will be an entirely new
44,000 square feet conference center with 32 function rooms,
advanced AV resources and high-speed Internet connectivity
throughout the property. Directly across the street, a stand-alone
luxury spa and health evaluation center will come on line
in late 2005. |
 The
SHERATON GATEWAY HOTEL at Los Angeles Airport
recently completed a $13.5 million renovation of all 802 guestrooms
and suites. The outdoor heated pool area has a fresh resort-destination
identity and the new 1,240 square foot fitness center features
a “cardio theatre” complete with personal flat
screen televisions. The refurbishing of the hotel’s
45,000 square feet of meeting space will be completed this
fall and wireless Internet service will be available in the
public areas. A full-service Starbucks café and Shula’s
Steak House restaurant will be available by year’s end. |
 The
Four Points by Sheraton, Santa Monica, California has completed
the refurbishment of all its guest rooms and is in the midst
of the second phase of its major $11 million renovation which
includes:the lobby, lounge, fitness center, pool area and
significant upgrades and reconfiguration to increase meeting
and event space The hotel will convert to a full-service,
luxury four-star property and be renamed the SHERATON
DELFINA upon completion of the lobby renovation scheduled
for October 2004. |
