POSSIBLE
STRIKE--The
union representing hotel workers in Washington DC, Los Angeles
and San Francisco threatened to strike over the lack of a
new contract. In case of a walkout, hotel officials in the
three cities said they intend to remain open, but travelers
face the likelihood of a decrease in service levels as management
personnel seek to cover for striking workers. "We believe
the probability of a limited strike is high, likely beginning
at a handful of individual hotels," said JP Morgan Chase
analyst Harry Curtis. Check directly with your property for

opened their arms to help those less fortunate. Joining with
a local radio station they provided three callers facing the
worst of situations to receive one-week stays with all expenses
paid. While in the midst of an electrifying $17 million dollar
conversion and renovation, they still managed to host many
fellow Floridians who were left homeless or without power
from the devastations of Hurricane Charley and Frances.  |

is the new owner of Pacific Show Productions of British Columbia,
Canada. Granek is an enthusiastic and well qualified producer
with a solid background in the technical side of event production.
He is the President of ISES and a recent winner for his work
on the Georgie Awards.

MORAUW
has been appointed General Manager of Park Hyatt Washington.
Morauw, a graduate of the Lausanne Hotel School, joined Hyatt
Hotels Corporation in March 1984, as a Corporate Trainee at
Hyatt Regency Washington. Following food and beverage management
assignments in Riyadh, Auckland and Casablanca, he joined
the team of Hyatt Regency Birmingham in February 1990 as Executive
Assistant Manager - Food & Beverage. In January 1992,
Morauw was appointed Project Manager for Hyatt Regency Paris-Charles
de Gaulle, where he was subsequently promoted to Resident
Manager in September 1993. He was appointed General Manager
of Hyatt Regency Paris-Madeleine in October 1996, and General
Manager of Hyatt Regency Paris-Charles de Gaulle in March
2001.   |

MARK
TESTER was
recently promoted to Vice President of Convention Sales at
the Chicago CVB.
Tester has been with the CCTB since 1995 and was formerly
Assistant Vice President of Sales. Before joining the bureau,
Tester held various sales positions with Sonesta International
Hotels Corporation, Sonesta Villa Resort in Orlando, Florida,
and Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois. He is a
member of the Professional Convention Management Association,
International Association of Exhibition Management, and a
Board member of the Chicago Central Lions Club.

CAROL
MOTLEYwas promoted to Director, Eastern Regional
Office is based out of the CCTB’s Eastern Regional Sales
Office in Silver Spring, Maryland and has served the CCTB
since 1999. She has a wide variety of CVB, convention center
and hotel experience with past positions at the Baltimore
Convention Center and the Doubletree Suites Hotel in Phoenix,
Arizona. Motley is an active member of the Professional Convention
Management Association, serving as co-chair of the PCMA Capital
Chapter Program Committee.  |

Award for individuals that have consistently distinguished
themselves as marketing leaders. Mr. Sternlicht accomplishments

Event Professional of the Year. The 20 year event practitioner
thanked her team for all their hard work and dedication. Accolades

commitment and creativity in our global event market”.
