Princess
Cruises sent a tender to Grand Cayman with water, food and
clothing; Norweigan Cruise Line Corporation is donating goods,
water and food to the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Grenada
and Jamaica and is working with the Florida-Caribbean Cruise
Association to distribute food, water and items like tarps,
flashlights, blankets and batteries. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity
Cruises have contributed more than $1.5 million to storm-impacted
Caribbean countries, according to Horace Hord, Junior, Regional
Vice President of Government and Community Relations for the
Eastern Caribbean. Funds were earmarked for the CARIBBEAN
TOURISM ORGANIZATION RELIEF FUND and for the CARIBBEAN
HOTEL ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION for children affected
by the hurricanes. An additional $300,000 will be used for
relief supplies. |
Employees
of MGM Mirage have raised a record-breaking $2.7 million for
the employee-funded, nonprofit MGM MIRAGE VOICE FOUNDATION.
The monies are being donated to 400 charitable organizations
in Southern Nevada. More than $7.1 million has been raised
since its conception in 2002. In 2004, MGM Grand employees
raised a total of $1.1 million, exceeding all other properties.
“The increase in donations is a reflection of the outstanding
generosity of our employees and their dedication to enhance
the quality of life for thousands of people,” states
J. Terrence Lanni, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
MGM Mirage. “It’s wonderful to see our employees’
commitment to the community where they live, work and care
for their families.” MGM Mirage absorbs all administrative
costs for the Foundation and as a result, one hundred percent
of every dollar pledged by employees goes directly to the
charitable organizations which include: Safe Nest, the Nevada
Cancer Institute, Aid for AIDS of Nevada, Classroom on Wheels,
the Center for Independent Living, and the Clark County Public
Education Foundation.   |

to the west coast of Florida. An experienced planner, Jane
has hosted events globally from Amsterdam to Walt Disney World
ranging in size from cocktail parties to corporate galas.
Her background in culinary arts, strong organizational skills
and cutting edge events were the standard during her eleven-year
tenure with Andersen Consulting (Accenture).  |
BARBARA
HICKS
has left the natural beauty of the Fairmont Orchid on the
Big Island of Hawaii.and has taken the position of Global
Sales Director based out of the company’s Chicago Global
Sales Office. Hicks has an extensive sales background and
began her career at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver in 1986 as
Sales Manager. In 1991 she was promoted to Sales Director,
holding that position through 1998, then moved onto sister
hotel The Fairmont Waterfront as Sales & Marketing Director
from 1998 to February 2003. A graduate of Winnipeg’s
Red River Community College, Hicks holds a certificate in
Marketing and Economics/Business and has completed hospitality
studies at BCIT in Vancouver.  |
BRAEDAN
QUIGLEY
has been named National Sales Manager for Kerzner International
Resorts, Inc., which owns and operates Atlantis, Paradise
Island in The Bahamas and the One&Only brand. Prior to
joining Kerzner, Quigley was Sales Manager at the Manchester
Grand Hyatt in downtown San Diego. He began his career by
completing the Hyatt Hotels Corporate Sales Management Training
Program at the Hyatt Regency Austin in 2001 and was later
promoted to Sales Manager for the Midwest region at the Hyatt
Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.
He is a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree
in hotel, restaurant and institutional management and a member
of Meeting Professionals International. |
GERHARD
ZIMMER has been appointed General Manager of Sofitel
Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong in Shanghai. Gerhard has worked
with Accor since 1992 when he was pre-opening General Manager
of Sofitel Hyland Shanghai. After working in the Philippines,
Gerhard relocated back to China and assisted in the opening
of several of Accor hotels there, most recently as General
Manager of Sofitel Boao Hotel on Hainan.

OLE
NIELSEN
has been appointed the new General Manager of the recently
opened Sofitel Boao on Hainan Island. Ole has been with Accor
for more than nine years, starting with the Novotel Brisbane
and later moving on to The Philippines. Most recently Ole
was General Manager of Sofitel Raja Orchid Khon Kaen in Thailand.   |
TERRY
HITT
is the new General Manager of the Omaha Marriott which recently
became part of Crestline Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Mr.
Hitt has an extensive hospitality industry career that began
in 1982 as a controller and is a long term associate of the
Crestline. He most recently served as General Manager at the
Richmond Marriott in Virginia and previously held the same
position at the company's Sheraton West Palm Beach, Florida,
the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and the
Jacksonville Marriott, Florida. A graduate of Berry College
in Mount Berry, Georgia, Mr. Hitt was recognized as "General
Manager of the Year" by HSMAI and received a special
recognition award for exemplifying 'Marriott Culture.' He
served on the boards of the Jacksonville and the Beaches Convention
and Visitors Bureau, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce,
the Gator Bowl Association and the Richmond Chamber of Commerce,
among others.

in Nashville and the Warwick Hotel in Houston. Griffin, formerly
the Sales and Marketing Director at the American Club, a AAA-Five
Diamond/Mobil Four-Star Resort in Wisconsin, has a strong
Marriott background having served as Marketing Director at
the Saint Louis Airport Marriott Hotel and Marriott’s

Rialto Place, in centrally Florida. Bridget was most recently

JOSEPH
KRUVI
has been named Area Vice President of the San Diego &
South Orange County regions of Hilton Hotels Corporation.
He began his career in 1976 as Catering Sales Manager for
the Hilton New York. In 1980 he joined the Hilton in Tel Aviv,
Israel as Catering Director and Assistant Food and Beverage
Director In 1984, he became Hotel Manager of the famous King
David Hotel in Jerusalem before being promoted to General
Manager at the Dan Carmel Hotel in Haifa, Israel. He joined
Hyatt Hotels Corporation in 1989 as General Manager of the
Hyatt in Lincolnwood, Illinois and served in the same capacity
of the Hyatt Regency in Oakbrook, Illinois. In 1994 he returned
to Israel to head the opening of the Hyatt Regency Dead Sea
Resort & Spa and in 1998, he came to Hilton Hotels Corporation
as General Manager of the Hilton Burbank & Convention
Center. Kruvi earned his undergraduate degree from the School
of Hotel and Catering Administration at Bournemouth College,
England and the M.H.C.I.M.A degree from the School of Hotel
and Catering Management at Brooks University in Oxford. He
serves as vice chairman for the Los Angeles Hotels Association
and is on the board of directors for the Burbank Chamber of
Commerce.
