Veteran
event producer CHRIS CLARK has been hired
as the new Account Executive for Extraordinary Events and
will work out of their Los Angeles office. Clark is well-known
in the event industry and over the past eleven years has produced
high-profile events while at Walt Disney Theatrical Productions,
Universal Studios and, most recently, at Los Angeles Party
Designs. There, he produced a wide variety of events ranging
from a VIP dinner for twelve executives to a corporate holiday
event for 5,000. He is on the board of the Los Angeles chapter
of MPI and served as co-producer of the MPISCC Annual Conference.

SHERI
MEAD
has joined the sales team of the Chicago Convention and Tourism
Bureau and will report to Director of Sales, Marc Anderson.
Before joining the CCTB, Mead was the Director of the Section
of Labor and Employment Law at the American Bar Association
and has also held positions with ICM Conferences and Smith
Bucklin & Associates.

JEFF
TWEED
has joined the Caribe Royale All-Suites Resort and Convention
Center as Senior Sales Manager for the Southeast. Returning
to North Carolina, Tweed will be working out of their office
in Charlotte, in order to serve clients across the Southeast,
with a concentration on Georgia, North Carolina and South
Carolina. Tweed was formerly the Director of Sales and Marketing
at the Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
He began his hospitality career at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville,
North Carolina, and he has other industry experience at the
Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, South Carolina, and the
Sea Trail Golf Resort and Conference Center in Sunset Beach,
North Carolina.

GERRY
OH
was recently appointed Senior Vice President for Global Sales
& Marketing for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels &
Resorts. Mr. Oh has wide experience and a deep appreciation
of the travel industry, having worked in Singapore Airlines,
beginning as an Engineer, and in recent years as Vice President
for Singapore Airline's Marketing Communications & Development
and later as Vice President for Global Sales & Distribution.
In the course of his career in Singapore Airlines, he accumulated
10 years of field management experience, as Country General
Manager/State Manager in various parts of Europe, USA, South
Asia and Australia before returning to Singapore in 1997 to
take up his corporate appointment.

David
Roberts, Regional Vice President, Hawaii Region, and General
Manager of The Fairmont Orchid, recently announced the appointment
of OLIVER KEY as Hotel Manager and LARRY
MARR as Director of Rooms for the 540-room resort.
Mr. Key brings eleven years of hospitality experience and
began his career with Fairmont six years ago in banquets at
The Plaza in NYC where he also served as In Room Dining Director,
and Manager of the hotel’s signature Oak Room Restaurant
& Bar. In 2001, he transferred to The Fairmont San Francisco
as Director of Banquets, and then was promoted
to Director of Food and Beverage. Prior to his career with
Fairmont, Mr. Key worked in management positions at the Boca
Raton Resort & Club in Florida, and The Savoy Hotel in
London. He is a graduate of the University of Surrey in England
and holds a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Hotel &
Catering Management.Mr.
Marr began his hotel career in 1992 as Assistant to the Director
of Food & Beverage at the Turtle Bay Hilton on Oahu and
moved on to positions at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the
Hilton Seattle Airport. He most recently served as Director
of Front Office Operations, Rooms Division Head at the Hilton
Waikoloa Village on Hawaii’s Big Island where he was
honored as Manager of the Year for 1999.

ADAME
is the new General Manager for the exclusive Hotel ICON, a
Personal Luxury Hotel by Benchmark, which is located in the
Landmark Union National Bank Building in downtown Houston's
arts & entertainment district. He joined Benchmark in
2002 as Director of Rooms for the Scottsdale Resort &
Conference Center of Scottsdale, Arizona and prior to that
he was Director of Rooms at the Royal Palms Hotel and Casitas
in Phoenix. An industry veteran Adame was formerly with The
Orchid at Mauna Lani on the Big Island of Hawaii, Stein Erickson
Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah, and the signature Phoenician Resort
of Scottsdale along with several luxury resorts in the area.  |
PATTIE
FURTADO
has been named Director of Sales and Marketing for the 274-room
Best Western, The Plaza Hotel and the 307-room Honolulu Airport
Hotel. Furtado, a 25-year travel industry veteran was previously
with HTH Corporation, and was Director of Sales for both Robert’s
Hawaii and Paradise Cruise, Limited. She will oversee sales
team and marketing efforts for both properties which are located
just a half-mile from the Honolulu International Airport offering
a convenient central Oahu location for business and leisure
travelers to the island or an overnight stop for transiting
travelers.   |
WILLIAM
MCCOLGIN, CHA, CMP,
has been appointed Regional Sales Manager for the Ontario
Convention and Visitors Bureau. Working out of the Sacramento
office, McColgin will be responsible for group business in
the Northern California region. McColgin has 25 years of sales
and marketing experience with the Golden Phoenix Casino and
Hotel, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Promus Company (Harrah’s
and Embassy Suites), San Marcos Resort and Country Club, Chicago
Westin Hotel and Sheraton Chicago. He holds memberships in
several hospitality industry associations.

has opened, after completing a $20-million renovation. Located
only nineteen miles from Philadelphia in the historical Valley
Forge area and close to the Convention Center and Valley Forge
National Park. The hotel formerly was the Holiday Inn-King
of Prussia.  |

BUCKHEAD
INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL,
Atlanta will open it doors on Thursday, November 11. The General
Manager was the first of groups of employees that will stay
overnight until all the rooms have been slept in. It's a new
start-up strategy for Ronen Nissenbaum, the hotel's General
Manager, who has opened two InterContinental properties in
other cities. The 422-room, $115 million hotel has 55,000
square feet of meeting space.   |
SPATERRE,
the signature spa of Noble House Hotels & Resorts has
announced its expansion, with three additional outlets being
created in Florida. Ocean Key Resort & Spa in Key West,
Grove Isle Resort & Spa in Miami and The Shores Resort
& Spa in Daytona Beach Shores will each open a SpaTerre
in early 2005, bringing the signature spa to nine of the twelve
hotels in the Noble House collection. Designed to incorporate
the style and traditions of eastern and western cultures,
while promoting health (body), peace (soul) and relaxation
(spirit) through global, cross-cultural spa experiences, the
SpaTerre’s goal is to allow every guest to be blissfully
detached from the everyday world, while remaining keenly sensitized

FLORIDA
has been named its 2004 Chapter of the Year by the Society
of Incentive & Travel Executives (SITE). “Chapters
make up the foundation of our industry,” said SITE CEO
Brenda Anderson. “With organizations like these led
by groups of passionate and professional volunteers, it is
easy to see that our industry has a solid cornerstone on which
to rest.” The Florida Chapter has more than 125 members
and hosted six successful events in 2004. One of these events
raised $1,000 (USD) for the Children of Tipoco, Mexico. The
Southern California Chapter received an honorable mention
– special event for the series of functions it hosted
throughout the year. Mexico Chapter also earned an honorable
mention and hosted 10 educational seminars throughout the
country during the past twelve months. In addition, the chapter
is expanding its educational offerings into South America.
The Australia/New Zealand Chapter earned an honorable mention
for its revitalization efforts due to numerous challenges
through 2004. The Great Britain Chapter received the Spirit
of the Year Award for its efforts to motivate current members
to become more involved and recruit more incentive travel
professionals to become part of the organization.

JEFFREY
FARINA,
Chief Development Officer for Benchmark Hospitality International
has been elected President of the International Association
of Conference Centers (IACC). Previously the First Vice President,
he has served on the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors,
and was Co-chair of the Marketing Committee in addition to
his participation on several other committees for the prestigious
global association. Farina is following a Benchmark tradition,
Burt Cabañas, Benchmark's Founder, Chairman & CEO,
and a founding member of IACC, served as President from 1983
- 1985, as did Benchmark's Chief Operating Officer, Sam Haigh,
who was President from 1989 - 1991.  |
PAUL
J. SISTARE
, President and CEO of São Paulo, Brazil-based Atlantica
Hotels International, received the inaugural 2004 Pioneer
Award-Latin America from the International Society of Hospitality
Consultants. Sistare graduated Magna Cum Laude from North
Carolina University and prior to founding Atlantica Hotels
International, he was CEO of Richfield Hospitality Services
Inc. in Hong Kong and also worked as Senior Vice-President
for Trusthouse Forte Hotels in London, and Senior Executive
at Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando, Florida.  |
