been invited to participate in the PEABODY CONFERENCE
CONNECTION, a new and unique marketing alliance.
It has been specially created to more effectively compete
against the major chain brands, to share and refer group customers
to each other, while proudly maintaining each property's individuality
and name recognition. "To the best of my knowledge, this
has never been done before, and is the first hotel-to-hotel
representation and referral system of its kind," said
Barry Anderson, vice president of sales and marketing for
Peabody Hotel Group. After months of research and feedback
from independent hotels, Anderson launched the Peabody Conference
Connection. "It's time for upper upscale, independent
properties to form their own sales and marketing consortium
to vigorously showcase and promote the all-encompassing, unique,
personal, service excellence and value factors of independent
hotels. |

 TANYA
LEE,
the new Spa Director at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort &
Spa was selected to lead the creation and development of the
20,000 square-foot Spa which is opening January 2005. A seasoned
spa veteran, Lee brings with her more than 23 years of hospitality
experience, including her most recent position as the Assistant
Sspa Director at Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa, Fort
Lauderdale, Florida. From Hawaii to Florida, Tanya has opened
some of the most acclaimed spas in the country, including
The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach and Bonaventure Resort &
Spa in Fort Lauderdale. |
 JOHN
DODSON is the new Director of Sales & Marketing
for the Hotel Contessa, a luxurious property located on the
famed Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas scheduled to open late
next year. Dodson brings vast experience in the San Antonio
area having most recently served as the Director of Sales
for the San Antonio Marriott Northwest, and the Emily Morgan
Hotel. Dodson was also General Manager for the PGA National
Resort & Spa of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and while
in Dallas headed the team at The Adolphus Hotel and was Director
of Marketing for the Grand Kempinski Hotel. He began his career
in hospitality working in several positions of increasing
responsibility for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, in markets
from Boston, Bal Harbor, Orlando and Houston to Waikiki on
Oahu in Hawaii. He was named Director of Marketing of the
Year for the Sheraton World, Orlando, and Director of Sales
of the Year for the Sheraton Houston. He attended George Mason
University of Fairfax, Virginia, and served in the United
States Army, receiving an honorable discharge. |
 KEVIN
WILLIAMS
has been named Director of Hotel Operations & Sales for
the 250-room Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Hotel in Indio,
California which is scheduled to open on December 21. Williams
has held various positions within casino resort management
during the past two decades, including Hilton Nevada (now
Caesars Entertainment), Station Casinos, and most recently,
Director of Product Development for Hotels.com. He has worked
in all gaming jurisdictions throughout Nevada, including Las
Vegas, Reno and Laughlin. |
 SUSANNE
HATJE
was recently appointed General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental
Hotel Group's new hotel under development in Hong Kong, the
Landmark Mandarin Oriental, due to open mid-2005. She joins
the hotel from her previous post as Resident Manager at Kahala
Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii. Prior she was General Manager of
Mandarin Oriental, Munich and was also instrumental in guiding
the former Rafael hotel’s smooth transition into Mandarin
Oriental’s fold. A German national, she joined the hotel
industry in 1988 as an apprentice manager at Atlantic Hotel
Kempinski in Hamburg. Her first overseas post was at The Mark,
New York, Mandarin Oriental’s luxury Madison Avenue
address. While advancing her career, Susanne has also furthered
her education with a part-time hospitality industry management
program at New York’s Cornell University. She is currently
in the process of completing an MBA at the Royal Melbourne
Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia. |

has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
for Europe, Middle East & Africa at InterContinental Hotels
Group, responsible for the company's hotel brands - InterContinental,
Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inn across
the EMEA region.

 Accor
has promoted NICHOLAS MERCIER to Director
of Distribution - Asia. In his new position Nicolas will oversee
global distribution, pricing, reservation and E-Commerce.
Prior to this appointment he was Distribution & E-Commerce
Manager – Asia responsible for electronic distribution
for both internal (Accor E-Commerce platform) and external
(travel web sites) applications. Nicolas first joined the
company in 1996 as Executive Assistant Manager at Novotel
Bogor and spent five years in hotel operations in Indonesia
and
Myanmar. |
 STAN
GLANDER
has been promoted to General Manager of the 320-room Radisson
Resort at Knott's Berry Farm minutes from Disneyland just
outside Los Angeles. Glander joined the Cedar Fair Corporation,
owners and operators of the hotel in 2003 as Director of Food
and Beverage. In June of 2004, he was named Director of Operations
for the property and this month takes the helm as General
Manager. Formerly with Wyndham Hotels, he oversaw six properties
as the Regional Food and Beverage Director and was then promoted
to the position of Hotel Manager for the Emerald Plaza in
San Diego. Glander started his career in the hotel industry
with Promise Hotels in Saint Louis and New York City.

CLARION HOTEL TAMPA WESTSHORE, Tampa, Florida,
formerly the Park Plaza, underwent a $3 million renovation
last year that included remodeling all 250 guest rooms and
suites. The hotel is conveniently and centerally located near
the airport, downtown and many restaurants, shopping and entertainment
spots. The rooftop ballroom and flexible meeting facilities
offer scenic views and can accommodate up to four hundred
people. |

CONTESSA,
scheduled to open in November 2005 on the Riverwalk in San
Antonio, will offer 256 elegantly appointed suites, an upscale
spa with a complete fitness center and rooftop swimming pool.
Within easy walking distance to the convention center and
local attractions the hotel will provide 13,500 square feet
of meeting space, including a ballroom, Executive Boardroom,
and several smaller conference rooms, with state-of-the-art
information and presentation technology.

this fall, the 109-room five-star DANAT RESORT JEBEL
DHANNA is located 240km west of Abu Dhabi city in
the United Arab Emirates an area which is being developed
as a major tourism destination. The resort features 800 meters

tennis courts, a par-36 nine-hole sand golf course and driving
range, children’s club, banqueting and meeting rooms
facilities for up to one thousand guests, the Body and Soul
Health Club, Pan-Arabian and bistro restaurants and a C-View
café, and six waterfront villas. Fishing, diving and
drive safaris are available as well as exclusive tours of
the Sir Bani Yas the wildlife reserve island, located just
nine kilometers off the coast. |

tourism category by Mexico's President Vicente Fox for his

and Pueblo Bonito Hotels & Resorts opened their first
property, Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan, in 1989, he has provided
many communities with roads, schools, housing, bus transportation,
and jobs as well as improving environmental development while
minimizing their impact on ecosystems. The collection includes
three properties in Cabo San Lucas -- Pueblo Bonito Sunset
Beach Resort & Spa, Pueblo Bonito Rose, and Pueblo Bonito
Los Cabos, two in Mazatlan -- Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan and Pueblo

Chairman of the Board of Kerzner International, has been named
Corporate Hotelier of the World by HOTELS magazine. He was
recognized for his role as a leading developer and operator
of groundbreaking destination resorts, casinos and luxury
hotels in Mauritius, Dubai, the Maldives, Mexico and The Bahamas.
The annual award, now in its 24th year, is based on polling
the magazine's 60,000+ readers in some 170 countries. Kerzner's
most recent accomplishments include the hugely successful
Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in The Bahamas, celebrating
its 10th anniversary this year, and the late-2002 launch of
the premier luxury brand, One&Only. Although no longer
affiliated with SunCity, Kerzner gained international recognition

Reading, Pennsylvania has 45 guestrooms and features over

322-room TREMONT BOSTON HOTEL, formerly a
Wyndham Historic Hotel was recently purchased by Highland
Hospitality and will undergo a $6 million renovation, upgrading
guestrooms, lobby and other common areas. The hotel is centrally
located in the theater district, close to the financial and
government centers, and only blocks away from Boston Common,
Newbury Street, Faneuil Hall Marketplace and the Back Bay.
The city’s underground transportation system is located
directly across the street and provides convenient access
to such attractions as Fenway Park and the Fleet Center. |
