Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois and will
oversee regional sales and marketing in the Midwest for Renaissance
North America. Formerly the Director of Marketing for the
Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, Florida,
Griffin has been with the chain since 2000 and in 2002, was
promoted to Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Renaissance
Hotels Florida. Prior to joining Renaissance Hotels &
Resorts, Griffin worked in both regional and property-specific
roles for some of the industry's top hotel management companies,
gaining expertise in managing a variety of branded hotels
and resorts throughout Florida. |
SRDJAN
MILEKOVIC
was recently appointed General Manager of Ararat Park Hyatt
Moscow which is located in the heart of the capital and only
minutes from the Bolshoi Theatre, the Kremlin, Red Square,
the Russian Parliament building. A native of Yugoslavia, Milekovic
graduated from the University of Belgrade and spent four years
in scientific research as an assistant professor before joining
the opening team at the Hyatt Regency in Belgrade as Director
of Human Recourses in 1989. He was subsequently promoted to
the positions of Director of Rooms and Executive Assistant
Manager - Rooms. In 1997 he was transferred to the Hyatt Regency
Almaty as Executive Assistant Manager - Rooms and after opening
the Park Hyatt Baku as Manager, he returned to Almaty in 1999
as General Manager.  |
AURELIO
GIRAUDO
was recently appointed General Manager of the Grand Formosa
Regent Taipei. A professional hotelier, he has had more than
24 years of working experience in the industry. A native of
Italy, Giraudo grew up in Switzerland and has worked throughout
Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia for major companies
in the hotel industry, including the Shangri-La International
Head Office and Banyan Tree Hotel and Spa. He speaks Italian,
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Indonesian,
and Thai. He previously served as the General Manager at the
Imperial Angkor Palace Hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia and Imperial
Boat House on Ko Samui, Thailand. Giraudo started his career
at 16 as a commis de rang and worked his way up the ladder
by exhibiting excellent leadership skills. He holds a Master
of Arts in Hotel Administration from Shelbourne University
Dublin and has taken several courses at Cornell University
and Hotel Consultant Swiss Hotel & Catering College.  |
CLAUDIA
PASSAMONTI
has been named Director of Sales & Marketing at the Mayfair
Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, Kimpton Hotels’ first
Florida property. With 14 years of experience in the hospitality
industry in South Florida, she spent the last seven years
at Wyndham International in Miami, Florida in multiple management
positions where she earned the “Manager of the Year”
award in 2000, 2002 and 2003. Passamonti has an A.S. from
Broward Community College and is currently pursuing a B.A.
from Florida International University. Throughout her career,
Passamonti has held sales and marketing positions at leading
hotel chains, including Hilton and Marriott, in both the US
and Venezuela. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian
and has a working knowledge French and Portuguese. |
JANICE
ISHIHARA
has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing for Turtle
Bay Resort located on Oahu's North Shore. Ms. Ishihara brings
fifteen years of experience at Hawaiian resorts and was most
recently Director of Sales & Marketing for the Princeville
Resort, on Kauai. Before assuming this position, Ishihara
was the Associate Director of Sales at the Hyatt Regency Maui.
A graduate of Kapiolani Community College and the University
of Hawaii, she is the recipient of numerous honors and recognitions
throughout her career, including Sales & Marketing Team
of the Year and Top Sales Performer in the Hawaii Region -
both from the Princeville Hotel; Manager of the Quarter and
Sales Team of the Year, from the Hyatt Regency Maui.

ROSELYN
CHAN
was recently appointed Vice President for Global Market Development
for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels & Resorts. Ms Chan's
experience and expertise in the area of customer loyalty will
contribute to the development of a unique M&C Hotels loyalty
program along with strategic marketing initiatives. She is
a graduated from the National University of Singapore and
extensive experience in travel-related as well as payment
card industries. She was Marketing Executive for a large travel
agency in Singapore, before joining the United Overseas Bank
Card Centre and later, as a senior executive in MasterCard.
Subsequently, she joined Visa International, focusing on country
management in Malaysia and most recently provided consultancy
services for a payment card organization.

PATRICK
KLUCK
has been appointed General Manager of the Carefree Resort
& Villas which is managed by Tiburon Hospitality. A nineteen-year
industry veteran, Kluck was most recently worked for Noble
House Hotels & Resorts serving as General Manager for
the Inn and Spa at Loretto, a Mobil Four Star resort in Santa
Fe, New Mexico and prior to that was the Regional General
Manager for their Little Palm Island and the Ocean Key Resort
in the Florida Keys. He was Corporate Director of Purchasing
for Rock Resort & Unique Hotels and has held general manager
positions with both the Casa Madrona in Sausalito, California,
and The Hotel Wales/The Franklin Hotel in New York. Additionally,
he spent six years at the Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas,
Texas, as Executive Assistant Manager and Regional Director
of Purchasing. His international hospitality experience includes
properties in Jakarta, Indonesia, Cabo San Lucas and Saint
Martin. Kluck received his bachelor of science in engineering
from the University of Maryland, in College Park, Maryland.

WECKLER
has been promoted to the position of Hotel Manager of the
InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong. General Manager
Gerhard Hecker, said "Ulrike's local and international
experience in the hospitality industry means that she is well

and develop its position as a 5 star International property
providing highly personalized customer service." Ms.
Weckler, who is fluent in German, English, French and Spanish,
is a native German and joined the hotel in October of 1996
as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food & Beverage.
Her. professional hospitality experience began in Switzerland
and continued in Australia, Spain, France, Germany and the
USA, where she gained valuable knowledge working in both resorts
and business hotel operations.

MICHAEL
POLESE
has been promoted to the position of General Manager of the
Westminster Hotel in Livingston, New Jersey. Polese joined
the four-diamond property shortly before its grand opening
in November 2002 as Director of Rooms. He has more than twenty
years’ experience in the hospitality industry, having
held management positions at several upscale NYC hotels, including
the Omni Berkshire Place. He also spent several years in the
technology end of the hospitality industry, traveling the
world to install systems related to many aspects of hotel
operations.  |

NAMES |
The
former Fitzwilliam International hotel has joined Park Plaza
Hotels Europe and will be known as the PARK PLAZA
BELFAST and is their first hotel in Northern Ireland.
Ideally located adjacent to Belfast International Airport
and 20 minutes from the city center, the four-star hotel has
106 luxury guestrooms, a restaurant, lobby bar, ten fully-functional
conference rooms for up to 250 guests, and use of the local
health and leisure facilities. |
 Langham
Hotels International a division of Great Eagle Holdings Limited,
has expanded into Australia and New Zealand. As of January
1, 2005 the Sheraton Towers Southgate will be rebranded the
LANGHAM MELBOURNE HOTEL
and the Sheraton Auckland Hotel & Towers will be named
the LANGHAM AUCKLAND HOTEL.
The Leading Hotels of the World will represent both properties. |
The
BEST WESTERN SOVEREIGN HOTEL, formerly a
Ramada, is located a few miles from Springfield Massachusetts
and thirty minutes from Hartford, Connecticut. The 262-room
property is set on a fourteen-acre estate and features an
indoor heated pool, fitness facility, two resaurents, and
a 9,000 square foot conference room that can seat up to seven
hundred.

The
CROWNE PLAZA-SAN ANTONIO RIVERWALK, which
is just nine miles from the San Antonio International Airport,
is set to undergo a $6.3 million renovation. Areas targeted
for capital improvements include the lobby area, restaurant,
guest rooms, and building exterior. Formerly the Adam's Mark
Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk, the 410- room hotel has a South
Texas décor throughout the property and features 37,000
square feet of meeting space, including one of the largest
ballrooms in the city and thirteen breakouts rooms.

The
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CONVENTION AND VISITOR
BUREAUS’ Board of Directors has recommended
the association change its name to “Destination Marketing
Association – Representing Destination Marketing Organizations
Worldwide.” Final board approval is slated for March
2, 2005 after receiving member feedback, with official adoption
scheduled for August 2005 at its annual meeting in San Diego.

The
Falor Companies, a Miami and Chicago-based hospitality company
finalized the purchase of the 420-room ROYAL PALM
HOTEL on Miami's South Beach. Falor anticipates bringing
in world-renowned Hard Rock Hotel to brand and operate the
hotel.

Just
opened the 293-room RENAISSANCE TAMPA HOTEL INTERNATIONAL
PLAZA is situated next to a world-class shopping
destination, featuring nearly two hundred specialty stores
and retailers, including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, BOSS Hugo
Boss, Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton, as well as thirteen
restaurants. Conveniently close to downtown, the Westshore
business district, and Tampa International Airport, the hotel
offers 12,500 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate
seating for six hundred. The La Fuente Courtyard is ideal
for outdoor receptions and wedding ceremonies for up 215. |

CRAIG
MARTIN,
Service Express Manager at The Westin La Paloma Resort &
Spa, was selected from 16 nominees and honored as the 2004
Outstanding Manager of the Year for Large Properties in Arizona
by the Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association. A motivating
leader, Craig joined the resort in June 2003 and led the Front
Office Team to the highest Guest Satisfaction Scores in its
history. In 2004 he won Leader of the Quarter for the first
quarter and was nominated again in the third Quarter. Craig
was promoted to Service Express Manager in August of 2004
and oversees the Bellstand, Valet Parking, Door Attendants,
Hotel Operators and Room Service Servers.  |
The
elite Clefs d'Or membership was recently bestowed upon the
Monterey Marriott's Hotel Concierge MARIE LUPO.
Ms. Lupo began her career in 1994 with Marriott Hotels &
Resorts. She spent two of her ten-year career with The Camelback
Inn, A JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., and
the remainder in her current position at the Monterey Marriott.
Born and raised in Monterey, Ms. Lupo knows first-hand the
treasures within and around the city.  |

RENOVATIONS
|
The
730-room SUNSET JAMAICA GRAND, formerly the
Renaissance Jamaica Grande, will soon have a new look to go
with its new name. Scheduled to re-open in March 2005 this
diverse facility will offer a new spa and an expansive water
recreation program. All the rooms and suites have been updated
with new soft goods. The main lobby has been redone,including
a new reception check-in area. The Italian restaurant has
been expanded along with the main pool deck. The construction
of a new entertainment area, a beach bar and grill and a wedding
gazebo are all part of the property's renovations. Infrastructure
improvements include air-conditioning, elevators, electrical
and water supply systems.

The
SHANGRI-LA CAIRNS HOTEL in north Queensland
Australia, formerly the Radisson Plaza at the Pier, has completed
a $35 million renovation. The 256-room five-star hotel's improvements
include guest rooms, a new lobby, new Horizon Club rooms with
Horizon Club lounge, four new conference rooms, a new restaurant
and a fitness center. The hotel adjoins the fully refurbished
Pier Shopping Complex with open-air restaurants overlooking
a new waterfront boardwalk, a 400 square-metre swimming lagoon
and a world-class marina.

SYDNEY
has recently unveiled the Club Lounge, a spectacular new rooftop
lounge like none other Down Under. Luxurious furnishings and
the latest technology take executive elegance to a new level
and the outdoor wraparound timber deck surrounded entirely
by glass doors, offers an uninterrupted view that stretches
from the Harbour Bridge to the Pacific Ocean. The lounge was
the final element to complete the five-star hotel’s
$30 million transformation, which included the complete renovation
of its 509 contemporary guest rooms and suites, a new lounge
bar and dining room, and the meeting space feature; an in-house
audio visual team with dedicated ISDN and full broadcast studios,
fourteen function rooms and stunning harbour views from a
contemporary, split-level space on the 31st Level.
